IB Physics Study Plan Guide

IB Physics improves fastest when students stop treating formulas as separate facts. The goal is to connect models, assumptions, equations, units, and written reasoning so unfamiliar questions become manageable.

01

Revise by model, not by formula list

For each topic, ask what model is being used, when it applies, and what assumptions are hidden inside it. This helps students choose the right equation under exam pressure.

Coach note

A formula sheet is useful only when you understand the physical situation behind each equation.

02

Use unit discipline

Units are a built-in error check. Students should write units during working, not only at the final answer, because many setup mistakes reveal themselves through impossible units.

03

Practise explanation questions

Many students focus only on calculations and lose marks on written reasoning. Explanation questions require clear cause-and-effect language and correct physics vocabulary.

State the principle being used.
Apply it to the situation in the question.
Link the result to the observed effect or data.
